"Please tell me a little about David Ronen"
David is devoted to supporting the awareness, love, expression, and celebration of being - in everyone! :-) David has a gentle, often humorous style, that points to the beauty and the wisdom of the heart. David honors the heart itself as his primary teacher, and has benefitted greatly from the help of many teachers, teachings, and friends through years of growing self-understanding, self-love, and self-expression.
David lives in Vancouver, Washington with his wife of 16 years and their two children.
He offers a variety of local events and expressions, including group and individual Heart Satsangs, weekly devotional singing and music jams, poetry, and retreats. He would be happy to talk with you if you have further questions.
"What is 'Heart Satsang'? "
"Satsang" means "Gathering of People for (or in) Being." Heart Satsangs are meetings where people explore, remember, get help from, appreciate, heal, and enjoy their own real being, heart, or truth.
"Why might I go to a Group or Individual Heart Satsang?"
To contact your own heart, your own self more deeply, directly, and lovingly
For healing, inspiration, and insight on issues that have been weighing on your heart
To rest deeply in what is, here and now
To further your own process of growth and understanding
For guidance for meditation, contemplation, and other spiritual practice
To be reminded of the inherent beauty and freedom of being
For the connection, humor, and joy!
"What's the format and what can I expect in group Heart Satsangs?"
* David will share a brief talk and/or prayer and/or poem from his own understanding and experience to get things started. Some sharing from diverse teachings - most especially from Advaita (non-dualism), Sufi, and Western mysticism and psychology - may be incorporated (no previous familiarity or adherence to these traditions is required).
* Some people will ask heart-felt questions or share experiences and feelings that they want feedback and help with, and David will respond in dialogue and guidance. You need not ask a question or share if you aren't moved to. The topics can appear diverse: meditation, spiritual concepts and practices, philosophy, personal or interpersonal issues, "real life" concerns, etc. The intent is honoring and discovering and serving what's true and healing for that person. Sometimes this may appear straightforward, sometimes there is help with looking and feeling more deeply into what's going on.
* Wonderfully, what others share is often personally relevant, whether we are the ones asking the question out loud or not.
* The feeling is often contemplative, often humorous, and often personal and moving.
* Some silence, some guided meditation.
* The content and form can change to reflect each moment's freshness and the natural process of discovery and growth of participants
* A non-judgmental, non-dogmatic atmosphere that respects each person's inherent integrity.
* An opportunity to be supported in deep heartfelt awareness and love.
* Satsangs vary in length, depending on what's needed, but generally are one to one and a half hours.
"What is asked of me?"
To honor all attending Satsang, including honoring the confidentiality of what people may share
To understand that Satsang is not a substitute for professional medical care or mental health care
To refrain from wearing perfumes or other scented products (due to allergies)
"What can I expect in an Individual Session?"
Similar to above, with more time for in-depth healing inquiry into the core of relationship, health, stress, work, and life-direction issues. Also offering individual guidance for meditation and spiritual practice.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule an individual session. Requested donations are between $60 and $120. Phone sessions are also available.
"Please explain about donations"
Donations are requested to cover costs and to support David's work and livelihood. Anyone who wishes to participate but is unable to afford the requested donation is welcome to donate what they can. First-time attendees to Weekly Satsangs are welcome to "check things out" without first making a donation. We will also greatfully receive donations beyond the requested amount. Non-profit status will be applied for this year. Thank you!
